SEND Finance Business partner (Education)

Rate: £450 – £650 per day

Hours: Full-time – 37 hours per week

Working Pattern: Oxfordshire based – Hybrid – approximately 2 days per month in the office

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SEND Finance Consultant to support strategic financial management within an education service. This role requires a specialist with extensive experience in SEND and High Needs funding who can drive financial reform and ensure compliance with national regulations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in reviewing, strengthening, and improving financial processes relating to SEND and High Needs services, while ensuring compliance with Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support SEND financial reform initiatives to improve sustainability and transparency of High Needs budgets.
  • Provide expert financial oversight and guidance relating to Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) funding.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant education funding regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Analyse SEND and High Needs financial data to identify trends, pressures, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support service improvement and budget management.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership and education services to strengthen financial governance and reporting.
  • Provide expert advice on SEND funding models, financial planning, and budget forecasting.
  • Support the development of financial monitoring frameworks and reporting tools.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience working in education finance within a local authority or similar environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) requirements and regulations.
  • Extensive experience managing SEND and High Needs funding.
  • Proven expertise in driving SEND financial reform and improving financial sustainability.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and advising on strategic financial decisions.
