Business Intelligence Architect

Suffolk

£500 per day

Full Time

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced BI Architect to lead the end-to-end design and delivery of a strategic Inclusion Tool built in Power BI.

The postholder will:

  • Rapidly shape the data architecture, semantic layer, and reporting experience
  • Work closely with the Intelligence Hub (iHub) team to identify, source, and model the correct datasets
  • Build both the back-end (data models, DAX, governance) and front-end (dashboards, visuals, UX) of the tool
  • Manage the delivery as a short, outcome-focused project
  • Ensure a clean, well-documented handover so the iHub team can own, support, and extend the tool post-delivery

This is a hands-on architect role, not a pure advisory position. The successful candidate must be able to add value from day one and operate with minimal onboarding.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Solution & Data Architecture
    1. Design a scalable Power BI architecture aligned to long-term organisational needs, not just the immediate project
    2. Define and implement:

                                                              i.      Semantic models (star schemas, shared dimensions, conformed measures);

                                                            ii.      DAX patterns and KPI logic;

                                                         iii.      Dataflows and refresh strategies.

    1. Ensure the solution supports governed self-service and future extension by internal teams
  1. Data Sourcing & Integration
    1. Work with iHub analysts and data owners to:

                                                              i.      Identify authoritative data sources

                                                            ii.      Resolve data gaps, quality issues, and definition mismatches

                                                         iii.      Perform data profiling and validation to ensure trust in published metrics
