Full Time
Responsible for processing and determining planning applications. Assisting in planning appeals and the provision of professional planning advice as required. Contributing to the Planning and Environment Service objectives, ensuring the provision of an effective, consistent and high-quality planning development management service that is responsive to customer demands.
Key points:
- Managing a significant backlog of applications.
- High-volume, repetitive casework requiring efficient turnaround.
- Need for officers who can quickly integrate and work independently.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience processing or advising on planning applications and appeals.
- Strong understanding of planning regulations, local plans, TCPA, and best practice.
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with Uniform and Idox systems desired.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to undertake site visits (business insurance required).
- Local Authority experience desired.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and process a high volume of planning applications (primarily householder extensions and outbuildings).
- Communicate with applicants and agents, providing clear, customer‑focused advice.
- Prepare reports, undertake research, and support appeals.
- Conduct site visits as required.
- Work with minimal guidance.
