Development Management Principal Planning Officer

West Morland

Planning Officer – £40-45 per hour Umb to the worker

Principal PO – £55 – £63 per hour Umb to the worker

Full Time

Job Purpose:

• Lead the assessment and determination of complex planning applications, including major residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
• Prepare high-quality reports and recommendations for Planning Committee.
• Provide technical advice and support to Planning Officers and Senior Planning Officers.
• Interpret planning legislation, local policy and national guidance to inform robust decision-making.
• Represent the Council at pre-application meetings, public consultations, site visits and Planning Committee.
• Work collaboratively with developers, consultees, legal representatives and local communities.
• Support the Council in planning appeals, hearings and public inquiries.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to professional development across the team.
• Promote continuous improvement by helping develop efficient processes and maintaining high standards of planning practice.
• Respond professionally to complex customer enquiries and complaints.
