Housing Enforcement Lead
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £50 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5
Working Pattern: Part remote – 2 days per week working from home
We are currently seeking an experienced Housing Enforcement Lead to provide functional leadership across key housing service areas within a local authority environment. The successful candidate will provide specialist professional advice, lead on complex cases, and ensure that service standards, compliance and working processes are maintained and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
- Private Sector Housing, including:
- Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- HMO licensing and enforcement
- Fire safety in high-rise dwellings
- Asylum accommodation
- Public health in housing
- Renters’ Rights, including implementation and enforcement of relevant requirements.
- Housing Strategy, including:
- Homelessness
- Temporary accommodation
- Supported accommodation
- Affordable housing
The Role
- Provide functional leadership and specialist advice across the identified housing service areas.
- Ensure work processes, professional standards and regulatory compliance are maintained and continuously improved.
- Provide high-quality professional advice, guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Manage and resolve cases of varying complexity, using sound professional judgement.
- Support effective enforcement and compliance activity across private sector housing and related housing functions.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of housing services, policies and processes.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure that cases and service activity are managed effectively, consistently and in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
