Social worker – Child protection – North London
Job Description
About the Role: As a Social Worker in the Child Protection team, you’ll work at the front line of safeguarding, responding to referrals, carrying out assessments, and ensuring children are protected from harm. You’ll be part of a proactive team focused on achieving safe, stable, and positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake section 47 enquiries, risk assessments, and child protection investigations.
- Work directly with children and families to formulate clear, outcome-focused plans.
- Initiate and participate in Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Reviews.
- Prepare high-quality court reports and represent the local authority in legal proceedings.
- Liaise effectively with schools, health services, police, and other key agencies.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England.
- Strong background in Child Protection, Safeguarding, and Court Work.
- Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Public Law Outline (PLO).
- Ability to manage complex caseloads under pressure while maintaining high standards of care and record-keeping.
- Skilled in communication, critical thinking, and partnership working.
