QSW – Independent Reviewing Officer

Job Description

Job Description: Rochdale is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join their team on a temporary basis.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct reviews for Cared for Children (Looked After Children) in line with the IRO Handbook.
• Work as part of a team of experienced IROs to ensure the highest standards of care planning and safeguarding.
• Provide oversight, challenge, and quality assurance for care plans to ensure they are effective, timely, and meet the child’s needs.
• Uphold children’s rights and advocate for their voice to be heard in care planning and decision-making.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with significant post-qualifying experience.
• Ideally has held a Senior Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner role.
• Strong understanding of the legal and policy framework around Looked After Children.
• Excellent communication, report writing, and multi-agency working skills.
• Registration with Social Work England is essential.
