D1 Driver – DABD (East London)

Location: Romford, Beckton and Leytonstone

Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week

Contract: Initial 3 to 6 months – Possibly beyond

Job Description:

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate D1 Driver to provide safe and comfortable transport for passengers with disabilities. The role involves driving accessible minibuses, assisting passengers on and off the vehicle, and ensuring their wellbeing throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a D1-category vehicle in compliance with road and safety regulations
• Transport passengers with disabilities to and from various locations
• Provide assistance with boarding, securing wheelchairs, and ensuring passenger safety
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues
• Maintain accurate journey records and communicate effectively with colleagues and service users

Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence with D1 entitlement
• Previous experience driving passengers with disabilities or vulnerable adults preferred
• Manual handling and passenger assistance experience desirable
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, patient, and empathetic approach
