Social Worker – Children in Care – Medway
Job Description
About the Role
This role is central to delivering Medway’s commitment to safeguarding children. You’ll manage a caseload involving children in need, child protection, or court proceedings, and you’ll be responsible for driving positive change through the implementation of clear, evidence-informed plans using the Signs of Safety practice model.
You will work directly with children and their families to understand their lived experiences and create sustainable, supportive interventions that keep children safe and help families thrive.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England
- Completed ASYE and at least 2 years’ experience working with children and families
- Experience with child protection, court work, and direct work with children
- Knowledge and understanding of Signs of Safety (or willingness to be trained)
- Skilled in strengths- and relationship-based practice
- Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments and SMART plans
- Use Signs of Safety consistently in all interventions
- Produce clear, timely reports for child protection conferences, court, and reviews
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in compliance with GDPR
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals and services
- Engage in regular reflective supervision and continuous professional development
