About the Role

As Assistant Team Manager, you will support the Team Manager in leading a team of social workers, promoting excellence in safeguarding and social work practice. Your work will include regular supervision, oversight of case management, performance monitoring, and chairing key meetings. You will also deputise for the Team Manager when required and help maintain high standards of service delivery.
What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Substantial post-qualification experience (minimum 3 years) in statutory children’s services
  • Proven experience working with complex social work cases and high-risk situations
  • Experience of supervising or mentoring staff (desirable)
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice models (e.g., Signs of Safety)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and support teams effectively

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional supervision and guidance to 3–4 social workers
  • Support quality assurance, case allocation, and decision-making
  • Chair strategy, planning, and review meetings
  • Assist with recruitment, induction, and training of new staff
  • Deputise for the Team Manager and attend key meetings
  • Ensure accurate and GDPR-compliant record keeping
  • Contribute to service planning and improvement through leadership and performance monitoring
