Job Description
Job Title: Community Safety Lead Officer
Location: Camden
Contract Type: 3 month Initial
About the Role
We are looking for a committed and skilled Community Safety Lead Officer to take the lead in assessing risks and delivering targeted interventions to address crime and antisocial behaviour in Camden. This is a vital role in ensuring our communities feel safe, supported, and heard.
As the lead officer, you will be the first point of contact for specialist support, information, and advice relating to community safety issues. You will make key decisions on how resources are used, ensuring the right response at the right time, and work closely with colleagues across the service to find effective solutions.
You will also coordinate partnership resources, bringing together agencies, departments, and community representatives to tackle complex issues and deliver real results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead risk assessments and deliver specialist interventions in response to community concerns about crime and antisocial behaviour.
- Make informed decisions on the use of resources to resolve these issues.
- Work collaboratively with other officers to find solutions that meet community needs.
- Coordinate partnership resources and ensure a joined-up approach across agencies.
- Lead engagement and communication with a range of stakeholders, including:
- Cabinet Members and Ward Councillors
- Council directorates and services
- Community Safety Partnership Board and partner agencies
- Camden Safeguarding Children Board and Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board
- Local and Central Government departments (e.g. Greater London Authority, Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, Home Office)
- Criminal justice agencies (including Magistrates, Crown Courts, and Family Courts)
- Community groups such as Tenants and Residents Associations and Safer Neighbourhood Boards
About You
You’ll be an experienced professional with a strong background in community safety, crime prevention, or partnership working. You’ll be confident in leading complex cases, managing relationships with senior stakeholders, and making sound decisions under pressure. Your communication skills will enable you to work effectively with a wide range of partners and the public, building trust and delivering positive change.
