Accommodation Support Worker
Rochdale
14/10/2024 – 3 months initially
Rota basis including earlies, lates and nights – Office based
  • Welcome people into Temporary accommodation and ensure they receive high levels of support and guidance to become tenancy
  • Manage their needs whilst in Temporary Accommodation
  • Provide advice and support to assess the needs of all households including customers with complex needs (including alcohol and drug issues and mental health)
  • Provide advice on a wide range of housing matters and support including but not limited to Benefits and Wellbeing advice
  • Develop a personal housing plan which will include advice on housing support, health services, employment information, and rehabilitation and addiction services and refer to services
  • Develop positive partnerships working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maximise Income collection through monitoring and actioning rent and service charge collection procedures whilst accurately recording financial information and actions
  • Contribute towards the reduction of temporary accommodation admissions by preventing homelessness
  • Report repairs to the appropriate agencies/ depts
  • Undertake domestic duties in relation to re-letting the temporary accommodation
  • Represent Strategic Housing at multi-agency meetings that discuss domestic abuse including safeguarding meetings (MARAC - Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference, DRIVE, Daily-high risk DA) and multi-agency forums
  • Keep and maintain accurate records
Requirements
  • UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance
  • Experience of working in a homelessness / housing / local authority/ temporary or supported accommodation environment
  • Experience of completing support plans, risk assessments and safety plans, ideally in a housing orientated environment
  • Experience specific to the Housing Act 1996 (amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017) and the ability to interpret these in order to advise others
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of, homelessness and housing issues and the implications, priorities and challenges
  • Child and Adult DBS registered onto the update service
