Licensing Officer

Location: Welwyn Hatfield, Hertfordshire

Working Pattern: Hybrid – office-based 2–3 days per week

Contract: 12 weeks

Hours: 37 hours per week

Rate: £27.14 – £28.29 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Licensing Officer to join the Public Realm team.

Key Requirements

• Relevant Licensing qualification.
• Strong knowledge of licensing law, guidance, policies and procedures, particularly Taxi Licensing and the Licensing Act.
• Thorough understanding of legislation, guidance and legal processes relating to environmental protection within a Local Authority setting.
• Knowledge of how Licensing interacts with other Local Authority services.
• Good understanding of enforcement procedures, legislation and guidance, including PACE.
• Excellent record-keeping and administrative skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

Additional Requirements

• Full UK driving licence.
• Access to a vehicle for work purposes.
• Willingness to occasionally drive Council vehicles, including vans.
• Ability to travel independently to residents, businesses and other locations as required.

Working Arrangements

The role is based in Welwyn Hatfield, Hertfordshire, with hybrid working of approximately 2–3 days per week in the office. Training will be office-based, with exact arrangements confirmed by the manager.
