Children's Support Worker
Bradford (variety of children’s homes based in Bradford)
ASAP – Ongoing
Rota basis including days, evenings, sleep in’s and weekends
  
Our client are seeking Residential Childcare Practitioner’s to provide appropriate day-to-day care to a group of children and young people who have suffered significant trauma, neglect, abuse, complex health needs and disabilities and who are likely to display difficult and challenging behaviours – including those who may have a number of complex issues including learning disabilities, mental health issues, have been criminally and or sexually exploited, sexually abused or neglected.
  • Support children and young people to develop behaviourally, educationally and emotionally in order that they may deliver positive contributions to their families, society and their local communities
  • Provide emotional, practical and personal support to meet their needs
  • Support children and young people to attend school, enjoy leisure activities and stay healthy
  • Work with colleagues to provide a safe and secure living and learning environment
  • Promote the safety and welfare of the children and young people
  • Undertaking tasks such as shopping, cleaning and cooking
  • Keep in regular contact with the families, providing updates on difficulties and progress
  • Work closely with professionals, parents, siblings and extended family to ensure that the Care Plans, Positive Support Plans, Clinical Care Plans, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Plans, Risk Assessments and Health Plans are accurately detailed and communicated effectively to ensure children and young people are cared for consistently
  • Keep and maintain up to date records for each young person, providing reports where necessary
  • Attend meetings, reviews and conferences where necessary
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent or willing to complete within 2 years
  • Experience working in a Children’s Home or recent experience working with children and young people who have emotional/ behavioural/ complex needs/ physical or learning disability
  • Understanding of child growth and development
  • Ability to assess and evaluate individual needs of young people and their families
  • Physically fit enough to carry out ALL requirements of the post including the use of the physical interventions
  • Knowledge of Children Act 1989 and other legislation
  • Enhanced DBS registered onto the update service
