Social Work Assistant
Stoke on Trent
3 months initially
Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm, 37 hrs/week - Hybrid (office based at least 3 days per week)
  
Our client are seeking a Social Work Assistants to join their Duty and Assessment Team based in Stoke on Trent.
  • Deliver a high-quality assessment service to the children and their families of Stoke
  • Providing support and assistance to social workers undertaking assessments, managing and implementing children’s care plans
  • Work as part of the whole service system, supporting colleagues in the day to day running of the service area with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes for children, young people and their families
  • Contribute and support in parenting assessments, risk assessment and single assessments as directed by the practice manager
  • Where appropriate also undertaking parenting support and life story work
  • Undertake Private Fostering Assessments, ensuring the welfare of children subject to this arrangement
  • Undertaking visits
  • Work closely with our Supporting Families Service and a range of community based services and agencies within the City
  • Coordinate the team around the child to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach to safeguarding, as well as Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Review
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people and to support families
  • Arrange, chair and review child in need meetings to ensure targets are achieved and child’s needs continue to be consistently met
  • If required attend court to provide verbal evidence of any assessment undertaken.
  • There is a 4-week duty cycle, so successful candidates have a 3-week gap before being back on duty again
Requirements
  • Minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People or equivalent
  • Experience of direct work with children and families
  • Experience completing risk and parenting assessments 
  • A knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Child DBS registered to the update service
