Hourly Rate: £20.40
Are you a seasoned communications professional looking to make a significant impact in the public sector? Salford’s Communications Team is seeking a dynamic Senior Communications Officer to provide short-term support for key projects, focusing on public relations and media management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic PR Leadership: Drive the proactive planning, execution, and evaluation of communications and PR plans to enhance Salford’s image as a prime location for investment and business.
Media Relations: Build and strengthen relationships with local, regional, and national media to promote positive coverage of council activities and city developments.
Stakeholder Engagement: Advise and support council leaders, elected members, and partners with strategic communications to key audiences, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.
Digital Communications: Develop and manage digital content for websites, e-bulletins, and social media, targeting specific audiences to maximize engagement.
Crisis Management: Provide out-of-hours support during emergencies, acting as the lead communications officer when required.
What You’ll Bring:
Proven Expertise: Demonstrated experience in communications planning, PR strategy, and media relations, with a strong track record of delivering results.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to set objectives, define target audiences, and develop creative, intelligence-led approaches to advance the council’s goals.
Influence and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and media, ensuring a collaborative approach to communications.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email campaign management tools, media software, social media management tools, and content management systems.
