Job Description

SEND Caseworker
Hull
Umbrella Pay- £220.00 per day
20/10/2024 – 5 months initially
Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, 37 hrs/week – Hybrid (in the office 2 days per week)
  • Be responsible for writing high quality EHC plans and amendments to existing EHC plans
  • Work directly with parents/ carers and young people, supporting them through the EHC needs assessment, planning and review process
  • Resolve any issues as they arise, promoting positive outcomes
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, coordinating support where necessary
  • Monitor via annual reviews that pupils are receiving appropriate support an identify for action where changes to the pupil’s needs require amendment to EHC plans
  • Oversee the allocation of children and young people to suitable educational placements or provision including admissions into early years settings, mainstream, special and Independent Schools and Colleges as deemed appropriate
  • Facilitate the effective use of resources in schools and other educational providers
  • Ensure arrangements are in place for young adults with high needs to transition into adulthood
  • Prepare cases for Tribunal, attend mediation meetings and respond to complaints
  • Direct the work of the assistant caseworker on a day to day basis
  • Keep and maintain accurate records for an individual caseload
Requirements
  • Appropriate Level 3 Qualification (i.e. A Levels, HNCB/NVQ 3) - teaching, social work, nursing, youth work, etc.
  • Experienced SEND EHC Plan Writer
  • Able to write clear, concise, SMART, outcome focused EHC plans and reports with a high level of attention to detail
  • In-depth, knowledge of the SEND legislation and requirements and associated other legislation, systems and regulations
  • Knowledge of the needs of children and young people with SEND and their families
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
