3 months initially
Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm, 37 hrs/week – Hybrid (2 days in the office)
Our clients are seeking a SEN Casework Officer to join a team based in Normanton.
- Manage a caseload of Children with Education Health and Care Plans to ensure that all actions relating to statutory requirements are met
- Ensure that schools and other providers detailed in a child’s Education Health and Care Plan are complying with the expectations and obligations placed upon them
- Provide information for schools and other services about provision made for individual children
- Write Education Health and Care Plans and make amendments where needed, making judgements about needs in light of advice from medical and educational professionals
- Undertake casework relating to new requests for statutory assessment to ensure that the case is prepared for a decision by SEN panel
- Refer to SEN Officers and Administration Officers and ensure all processes are completed within statutory timescales
- Deal with parental concerns and representations, providing general advice and guidance about SEN related matters
- Meet with parents as required
- Attend pupils annual review meetings and establish whether changes are required
- Minimum of a BTEC Level 3 in SEN Casework or proven experience in a similar field
- Must be able to commute
- Extensive experience of working in the area of SEN, or substantial experience in a relevant area
- Experience of assessment used in schools by teaching staff and other professionals
- Child Protection Training (and undertake upstaged training as required), including the Common Assessment Framework, or be willing to undertake this training on appointment
- Training related to Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation (and update this as required) or be willing to undertake this training upon appointment
- Knowledge of SEN Legislation and Statutory procedures and current education legislation
- Enhanced Child DBS registered to the update service
