Residential Childcare Officer (Days and Nights available)
Cardiff
Umbrella Pay- £16.85 - £33.70) per hour (enhancement rates for evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep in’s)
22/07/2024 – 3 months initially
Rota basis – 8 to 12 hour shifts – Day and Nights available
  
Our client are seeking day and night workers to be placed on a rota to cover shifts across Children’s Homes in Cardiff.
  • Supporting children and young people aged 11 – 18 years to achieve positive outcomes in line with their childcare personal plan
  • Implement, monitor and record individual Placement Plans in consultation with your supervisor and other members of the team
  • Recognise and promote young people’s individuality, uniqueness and diverse needs
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people by fulfilling all duties and responsibilities
  • Provide personal care, emotional and practical support the children and young people
  • Support the education plans for children including homework, project work and revision
  • Have fun with the children and provide a nurturing environment, being there at every step of their development
  • Develop, participate and support young people in recreational and leisure activities
  • Routine household cleaning and maintenance duties and preparation of meals
  • Transportation of the young people where necessary
  • Build appropriate relationships
  • As a Waking Night Officer you will be awake on duty at all times throughout the night to monitor and to respond to young people’s individual needs and the requirements/instruction of on-call Managers
  • Communicate effectively with a range of out of hours services as and when required
  • Take part in handovers at the beginning and end of the shift
  • Report any observations or incidents to the incoming staff of which they need to be aware
  • Provide relevant reports and ensuring records are fully and accurately completed
Requirements
  • UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance
  • Registered with Social Care Wales as a Residential Childcare Officer/ Waking Night Officer
  • Recent experience working with vulnerable Children
  • Recent experience in child placement plans and risk assessments
  • Patient, empathetic and a caring nature
