Family Contact Worker
Urmston
28/10/2024 – 3 months initially
Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9.15am – 6pm – 36.25 hrs/week – Office based
  • Facilitate and supervise after school contact sessions with looked after children and young people aged 0 – 16 years and their families
  • These will take place in a contact centre, in the community and at times outside of the borough
  • Transport children from school to sessions where necessary
  • Manage a caseload
  • Ensure safeguarding of the children and young people is a priority at all times
  • Support the children with any feelings that may arise from contact
  • Immediately raise any concerns you may have
  • Organise and co-ordinate contacts activities e.g. cinema within the community ensuring that appropriate Risk Assessments are in place and adhered to
  • Supervise and record (video) final contact sessions with children and their families when adoption is part of the child’s plan
  • Attend Court to give evidence on the nature of contact sessions, the level of attachment and the relationship between the child and parent/significant other when required
  • Work with other agencies and professionals including social workers, providing reports that will form part of their parenting assessments
  • Work with parents who could have a range of issues that may have effected their parenting
  • Maintain up-to-date records and case notes on a daily basis
  • Attend meetings, reviews and conferences
Requirements
  • UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance
  • At least 1 years’ experience working with looked after children and their families
  • Understanding of attachment theories in relation to children in care
  • Ability to apply different methods of interventions with children and families to educate, facilitate and promote changes within contact sessions
  • Previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and in partnership with external agencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be flexible
  • Enhanced Child DBS registered to the update service
